Fuel Choices
A homeowner will need to make a few decisions beyond which materials to use. Fuel options include natural gas and wood, but special precautions need to be followed in either case. Gas fire pits allow the ability to easily control the intensity of the flame and the convenience of an instant or timed shutoff. There is no need to douse the fire after using it and no worrying about hot embers migrating out of the pit or flames getting out of control. And of course, no wood chopping is required.
Other Options
Ignition and timing options are available for gas manifold fire pits, from manual ignition and timers to fully automatic electronically controlled starters. Gas burner manifolds come in all shapes and sizes including 4’ wide squares, smaller 6”x12” rectangles, and circular options. In-fill materials for gas fire pits need to be carefully selected. We use only porous rock that is rated for fire, or glass for a feature’s in-fill.
