Options for Outdoor Fire Pits

Outdoor Coziness

Nothing is more inviting in outdoor spaces this time of year than a cozy fire pit.  These days, sleek modern fire pits appear in a wide range of materials and finishes. It is easier than ever to achieve an installation that is unique and crafted to your style.  Material choices are diverse and include standard block wall, natural rock, and custom-built metal installations. With custom fabrication available, the sky is the limit when imagining a unique focal point fire pit or table in your outdoor space.  Whether placed at grade or built in above grade, a fire feature in any outdoor space is a welcoming sight to family members and friends alike.

Fuel Choices

A homeowner will need to make a few decisions beyond which materials to use. Fuel options include natural gas and wood, but special precautions need to be followed in either case.  Gas fire pits allow the ability to easily control the intensity of the flame and the convenience of an instant or timed shutoff.  There is no need to douse the fire after using it and no worrying about hot embers migrating out of the pit or flames getting out of control. And of course, no wood chopping is required.

Other Options

Ignition and timing options are available for gas manifold fire pits, from manual ignition and timers to fully automatic electronically controlled starters.  Gas burner manifolds come in all shapes and sizes including 4’ wide squares, smaller 6”x12” rectangles, and circular options.  In-fill materials for gas fire pits need to be carefully selected. We use only porous rock that is rated for fire, or glass for a feature’s in-fill.  At True Scape Design we can design and fabricate fire features that suit your individual taste and style, and complement your outdoor space.
