National Gardening Month & Modern Landscaping
Along with bringing warmer weather, April is National Gardening Month. And thank goodness! It’s been a long wet winter in Seattle, and many other places in the country have had record-breaking winter weather, too. Now that the weather is becoming pleasant enough to go outside, it’s time to spend time thinking about changes to your yard or property. Many people come to us asking how to give their property a fresh and unique style. A lot of homeowners are looking to redesign their property for the first time and others are tired of the same old look year after year.
If you are looking to rejuvenate the beauty and attractiveness of your property, it may be time to consider an overhaul in the modern style. Availability of good landscape architects who design in this style can depend on where you live. Bigger cities on the West Coast, like Seattle, have excellent choices available. A good modern landscape architect can transform a dull and uninviting backyard into a place of beauty and relaxation. Some of our favorite aspects of modern landscape architecture are how it reflects on the building and how it can intentionally draw the eye to certain focal points while still feeling natural.
Low Cost Modern Landscaping Ideas
This photo shows an excellent example of a backyard transformed by modern landscaping. The patio and backyard are very neatly divided by the straight edges created with the tiling. This patio provides ample room for the table, the shed, and perhaps a grill. The design makes the backyard look nicely kept too. Redesigning your property in the month of April is excellent, timing-wise, because it can be ready in time for you to enjoy the new space for most of spring and the whole of summer and fall.
The front face of a property can also be radically transformed by adding some modern landscaping. Instead of just gravel or a crumbling concrete walk to the front door, this home has a symmetrical path that is nicely laid out with very clean lines. There are clear divisions between the driveway, the sidewalk to the door, and the gardening bed on the left. This is a sharp look that attracts compliments and makes a property the highlight of the neighbors’ evening strolls. Hopefully you now have some extra inspiration and a few more ideas for revitalizing your outdoor space during National Gardening Month.
